The young women awoke in a world that was very different from her own. Tilting her head side to side, she examined her surroundings with startling, lightning blue eyes that darted in between the world of darkened nothings. She felt different. Airy. Each breath seemed pointless, and echoed in her mind hauntingly.

She stood up from the bed that soon after seemed to float away in wisps, and disappear. The area around her was dark. All dark, except for where she stood. She found she was emitting her own glowing light. She raised a hand, and examined the odd light. She moved it slowly and watched as the features would blur and dance like torn ribbons in the wind. These ribbons would flow and wisp in the general direction she had thought to move, until she would hold still, and everything would catch up with itself; only to form the correct shape of her hand again. Ordinarily this would have frightened her, but she played with the idea like a child for what seemed like several moments.

The rest of her was made of the same glowing white skin, that wasn't really skin. She was thin, and beautiful. An elfin face was surrounded by hair shimmering somewhere between silver and gold which floated about her in long wispy waves. Her dress was white, long, flowing, and appeared to be a part of her as she moved. Through each of these movements, you could not tell which part of her was dress, and what was her body itself.

A noise suddenly caused her to look up, and behind her. To her surprise a forest had appeared through the darkness. The individual leaves seemed to be surrounded by the same never ending blackness, and the blades of grass appeared the only thing keeping the greenery from the falling into nothing.

Impulse told her to advance for the forest, because it seemed to be the only something in all the nothing she was surrounded by. She tested a few steps. There was no pressure under her feet that gave any clue as to if she was standing on anything. The eerie feeling made her uneasy, and she hurried to the entrance of the trees. Moving was just as strange, for as she moved, her form would blur and change as if the rest of her couldn't keep up. Similarly to the way her hands had trouble before. It was like some sort of dream, where a pressure keeps a dream-self from moving as fast as the being commands. She began to fear if she moved too quickly, she would leave a part of herself behind, and start to disappear.

So she made her way slowly, finding some relief by the feel of the grass under here bare feet. It was far less strange than feeling the nothing she had before. The light coming off her body lit the way to yet even more forest, and she could think of no destination, nor see any path anywhere in the depths of the trees.

Deeper into the forest she began to hear sounds. Yet they were like no sounds she has ever heard before. A breeze seemed to blow causing a rustling sound, but the sound echoed in an unnatural way. Upon closer inspection she found the leaves weren't moving at all, and yet the sound clearly came from the branches of all the trees.

she heard tiny echoey insects that also seemed foreign. And the sound of her tiny feet on the ground was delayed. She kept traveling with no certainty as to where she was going, until suddenly a noise in the trees to her left made her jump. curious, she ventured toward the sounds and was led into a clearing in the forest. A strange rasping noise filled her ears as she brushed past the branches, causing her to hesitate for a brief moment.

As she entered the clearing, her light slowly filled it, leaving no shadows to hide in. Inch by inch small creatures lurking in the darkness scattered away, as the sudden light startled them, and they retreated deeper into the trees. She eventually reached the near center of the clearing, and her light almost fully illuminated everything in it. The same rasping noise repeated itself, and she adjusted her view until the sound was directly in front of her… The rasping noise grew in volume, and her breath increased in tempo with it. Slowly she crept toward it… centimeter, by centimeter, the light traveled to fill the last sliver of the remaining break in the trees…

Finally, the light exposed something much larger. A creature; humanoid in form; was crouched as if to shield itself from her approaching mystery. Concerned for this Fellow being, she gestured encouragingly as she approached. And then as the light revealed it's features, she became visibly, and rigidly frightened. Skin, that was not fully intact, exposed muscle, sinew, and various tissue formed the monstrosity in front of her. Unnatural and bloody bones pierced through what small amount of skin could be found along the spine and neck. Rather than soft, human fingers, his metacarpals gradually formed sharp, jagged claws. The face itself was deformed in that the cartilage parts of the nose, and ears seemed to lack any sort of healthy shape. The mouth was not really a mouth, but instead, a line, a bloody opening crack; that traveled too far across the face. The eyes were sunken in, and dull, lacking color and reflecting only a muddied, murky, reddish-orange that sent shivers through her body. His body, and limbs were thin and frail, it seemed, though he sat crouched in such a way that it was obvious that at any moment, he could release the tension in his horridly visible muscles, and preform some maneuver that was certain to be quick, accurate, and possibly deadly.

The empty dimension around her seemed quieted; waiting for that very maneuver. That easy strike toward her; The fatal blow that would lead to her already certain death. She felt this. Every fiber of whatever sort of being she was now, told her she was going to die. And though she was frightened, she found it impossible to move. She could only stare, in wait for the end to come. She could only stare, frozen in fear, at this creature of death….
